Soccerella
Here is a story that I wrote. This story is for kids.
Story
Once upon a time, there was a kind girl named Soccerella. She loved to
play soccer, but one day her favorite coach retired and she was devastated.
Her parents put her on a new team.
Her new coach was strict and made her run laps all day. Soccerella’s teammates weren’t much better. They would say they were tired five minutes into practice, and during games, they would fall so they didn’t have to play. Soccerella was the only one that actually tried because she was very obedient. One afternoon there was a knock at the door. She opened it to find a mailman. He handed her an envelope.
“Here is a reminder for soccer tryouts,” said the mailman. “Every soccer player in the city is invited!”
“Give me the letter!” cried Soccerella’s first teammate.
“No, give me the letter!” cried the other.
“May I go to tryouts?” asked Soccerella politely.
“If you run all your laps by then you can go,” replied Soccerella’s coach slyly. Soccerella tried hard to finish all her laps, but her coach just kept making her do more and more laps.
It was the day of the tryouts, “Oh no!” giggled her teammates. Soccerella has not finished all her laps!”
“If she did not finish her laps then Soccerella will not go!” her coach announced as they hopped into an Uber.
“Bye,” said Soccerella sadly. Soccerella sat down grabbed her soccer ball and began to dribble it around sadly. Then all of a sudden there was a poof of black and white sparkles and a magical referee appeared out of thin air. “It’s okay because it’s time to go to tryouts!” announced the mysterious referee.
“Who are you?” sniffled Soccerella. “I am your magical referee!” he replied. “Now go get me a bicycle!” ordered the referee.
“Here you go!” said Soccerella handing him the bike.
“Great!” said the referee happily. Then he blew his whistle three times. The first time he turned the bike into an Uber and said, “Here is a uniform!” The next time he said, “Think of this as a gift! Now like any other magic there is a downside, the magic breaks at three. Now off you go!”
The second Soccerella got to tryouts the coach could not take his eyes off her. Her teammates watched grumpily from the sidelines, still not knowing it was her. Soccerella’s team won every game and she already knew all the drills. Then the clock began to strike three, “I’m sorry I have to go!” cried Soccerella as she ran out of the park.
“Wait!” yelled the coach. She was in such a rush she forgot all about her ball. When the coach was running towards her he saw her ball, but when he looked back up all he saw was a girl in ragged clothes. She looked familiar but he didn’t care
The next day the coach went out to look for Soccerella or the mysteries girl from tryouts as he called her. “Every girl in the city must try to dribble the ball as she did!” declared the coach. Girl after girl after girl tried but couldn’t dribble the ball as the girl had. Then finally the coach came to Soccerella’s house. Her teammates tried and tried but just could not do it then Soccerella walked in, “May I try?” asked Soccerella.
“Of course!” said coach.
“That is the goalie, she should not try!” protested the mean coach.
“I know but we might as well try,” said coach.
“But…” stuttered the mean coach. Soccerella took the ball and dribbled perfectly.
